Our client is a well-established global law firm, who is looking for a Compliance Consultant to add their dynamic team in London. The primary focus of this role is specifically conflicts resolution, regulatory and related policy work.
The Role of a Compliance Consultant
The successful individual will be working alongside a Head of Compliance who is assisted by a Head of Compliance for UK, Europe and Brazil, a Head of Compliance for the Middle East and Asia, Conflicts Counsel, Compliance Associates, and Compliance Officers in three regions. Although the majority of the work will be conflicts based, there will be some client facing work and international travel may be required.
Key responsibilities of the Compliance Consultant
providing senior level advice to partners and senior management on potential conflicts of interests, confidentiality and disclosure issues;
reviewing engagement and relationship letters, panel appointments and non-disclosure agreements produced by clients, and advising as to their acceptability;
assisting the Heads of Compliance and Conflicts Counsel in managing conflict and other business acceptance and regulatory issues;
liaising with and assisting the Compliance Teams at Norton Rose Fulbright Member Firms;
producing monthly risk reports for senior management in conjunction with others;
assisting with and delivering wider compliance projects;
assisting with the supervision of and mentoring a team of conflicts/general Compliance Associates and Compliance Officers and being responsible for their development;
providing ad hoc advice on a day to day basis on conflicts and general compliance risks to the firm.
To be considered for the Compliance Consultant role you must:
be a qualified solicitor under England & Wales, US or under related Commonwealth jurisdictions;
at least 7 years fee earning experience within a commercial environment;
have excellent academic achievement with a minimum 2:1 degree or equivalent
have extensive experience of analysing conflicts of interest matters in a legal environment;
detailed analytical skills; and
the ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbal, with stakeholders at all levels;
