The successful film and TV Paralegal will work as part of a close-knit team of three which focuses on production, licensing and acquisition businesses across Europe, Asia and Latin America.
This arm of the business distributes television formats including non-scripted formats of all genres (including reality, factual, factual-entertainment, studio-based entertainment and gameshows) and scripted formats of key genres including, comedy, sitcoms and drama. Their key brands include an enviable list of globally recognisable names.
Your new role:
The successful film and TV Paralegal will be responsible for:
- Primarily drafting and negotiating format license agreements in relation to the development and production of the Studio’s formats and acquired third-party formats.
- Drafting and negotiating ancillary documentation including consultancy agreements, NDAs, revenue letters, cease & desist letters, and advisory letters.
- Working closely with the sales team to ensure symbiosis across the commercial side of the business when working on deals.
- Conducting due diligence on potential licensees and other third parties involved in local productions to ensure compliance with local anti-corruption laws.
- Analysing format license agreements and related agreements (including underlying rights agreements) to provide rights availability, holdback and other related information to the sales department.
- Keeping centralised contracts database up to date.
About you:
The successful film and TV Paralegal will have:
- At least 18 months’ experience of reviewing and drafting commercial contracts is key, negotiation experience would be extremely beneficial
- An understanding of rights and licensing matters
- The ideal film and TV Paralegal will have experience in media and entertainment, or a demonstrable experience in this area
This film and TV Paralegal role is an initial six-month contract with a view to become permanent. Longer term there is also the opportunity to secure a Training Contract within the business. The Studio operate a hybrid working policy of three days a week in their central London office and the pay is equivalent to £36,000 per annum.
