The team is open to candidates at different levels and is keen to receive applications from:
- Experienced Employment Paralegals, and
- Qualified Lawyers interested in joining as a Staff Attorney, rather than pursuing the associate track.
The role:
The successful Employment Law Specialist will work closely with partners and senior lawyers in a small but busy Employment team, providing advisory support across a broad range of employment matters, 25% of which will be pro bono.
This position will focus on non-transactional, advisory and support work, and would particularly suit someone with strong employment law experience who enjoys high-quality client work without the pressures of the associate promotion pathway.
This is a client-facing role, offering genuine responsibility and visibility, alongside a more sustainable and stable long-term career structure. Responsibilities will include:
- Supporting partners and senior lawyers on non-deal employment matters
- Assisting with employment law advisory work and day-to-day client queries
- Supporting a substantial pro bono workload (~25% of the role)
- Working collaboratively within a partner-led team
- Preparing client updates, know-how materials and internal resources
- Contributing to business development and practice development initiatives
- Solid grounding in general employment law
- Previous experience in a law firm or professional services environment
- Strong written skills, with confidence drafting client-facing materials
- Comfortable working in a billable, client-focused role
- Interest in business development, know-how and practice support work
- Corporate support experience helpful but not essential
- Enjoys advisory employment work
- Values high-quality legal work and client exposure
- Is not seeking the traditional associate promotion route
