Overview
We are currently working with a reputable international law firm who are looking for Junior Compliance Officers to join their team in the Newcastle office. The new hires will be focusing on a range of compliance and risk issues.
The Role of a Junior Compliance Officer
The role will be based in Newcastle with the successful new hires reporting to the Client Due Diligence Manager/Conflicts Manager in London.
The work will be assessing and advising on either Client Due Diligence (CDD) or conflicts of interest. Individuals may be required to assist on other risk and compliance issues and where necessary project work to develop the team and its standing in the firm.
Key responsibilities of a Junior Compliance Officer
Carry out CDD on new and existing clients of the firm
Carry out and document risk assessments on new and existing clients of the firm
Screen new and existing clients for increased risk indicators, including sanctions exposure, PEP exposure and reputational and financial risk exposure
Escalate clients posing perceived increased risks
Undertaking conflict searches, analysing reports and advising on potential conflicts of interests, confidentiality and disclosure issues
To be considered for the Junior Compliance Officer position you will:
be a law graduate
have some compliance experience or demonstrable interest in compliance law
analytical thinker
minimum 2:1 degree or equivalent
excellent written communication and drafting skills
strong service orientation - a "client first" culture
