Legal Researcher – Commercial Litigation
An outstanding opportunity has arisen for a Legal Researcher to join a market-leading Commercial Litigation and Civil Fraud team at a highly respected disputes-focused law firm based in London. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract ideal for someone with a passion for legal research, content development, and high-level strategic insight.
The role is intellectually demanding and highly varied – offering the chance to contribute directly to major, high-profile civil litigation cases, as well as the firm’s broader business development and thought leadership initiatives.

The Role:
Reporting into the Head of Marketing & Business Development, and working closely with partners and associates, the Legal Researcher will play a key role in both legal strategy and communications. Key responsibilities include:
  • Case-related research: Supporting complex litigation matters by identifying nuanced legal questions, exploring novel arguments, and helping develop creative legal solutions.
  • Content development: Producing high-quality legal content including briefing notes, memos, and presentation materials.
  • Thought leadership: Assisting with article research and drafting across key focus areas including commercial disputes, ESG, and insolvency – with opportunities for publication under your own name.
  • Technology-enabled insight: Leveraging legal databases and AI-enhanced research tools (Westlaw, LexisNexis, PLC, Solomonic, Westlaw AI) to support both litigation and market positioning.

The Ideal Candidate:
This role would suit someone with strong intellectual curiosity, excellent written skills, and a genuine interest in complex legal issues. Key requirements:
  • Strong academic background, including a 2:1 or above at degree level
  • Demonstrated research experience in a legal, journalistic, or academic setting
  • Exceptional written English and the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and persuasively
  • Skilled in legal databases and comfortable navigating commercial, legal, and news sources
  • Highly organised, deadline-driven, and capable of managing competing priorities
  • Collaborative, proactive, and detail-oriented with a problem-solving mindset
