A highly regarded boutique intellectual property firm is seeking a talented Patent Attorney with a specialism in software to join its growing team. The Role

This is a newly created, strategic appointment when the successful Patent Attorney will develop and advise on a broad range of patent matters with a particular focus on software and computer-implemented inventions. The role offers significant autonomy and is ideally suited to someone motivated to build and develop a profitable practice within a supportive boutique platform with a best-in class support infrastructure.

You will handle a mix of drafting, prosecution, portfolio management, and strategic advisory work, while also playing a key role in client relationship management and business development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drafting and prosecuting UK, European, and international patent applications in the software/tech space

  • Advising clients on patent strategy and portfolio development

  • Conducting freedom-to-operate and patentability analyses

  • Supporting clients through complex IP issues in fast-moving technology sectors

  • Building, maintaining, and expanding client relationships

About You

  • UK and/or European qualified Patent Attorney

  • Background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline

  • Strong experience in drafting and prosecuting software-related patent applications

  • Commercially minded with excellent communication skills

  • Demonstrable interest in, or track record of, business development within a private practice/law firm platform
