An outstanding opportunity has arisen for a Lawyer to join a top-tier US law firm in London as a Staff Attorney within its highly ranked Employment team.

Led by a Legal 500-recommended partner, the team advises on contentious and non-contentious employment law matters, senior exits, employee relations, executive compensation and regulatory remuneration as well as cross-border workforce issues. The work is sophisticated, strategic and international in scope.

The role:

This Staff Attorney role focuses on non-transactional, advisory and support work in employment law. It sits outside the traditional associate track, offering high-quality work without a 2,000-hour billable target.

  • High-quality employment work within a top-ranked team
  • Predominantly non-deal employment work
  • Advisory support to partners and senior lawyers
  • Approximately 25% of the role dedicated to pro bono work
  • Genuine contribution to client work, BD and pro bono initiatives
  • Preparing know-how, client updates and other materials
  • Reduced pressure compared to associate track roles
  • Supportive, partner-led environment with clear oversight
  • High-quality work, without a 2,000-hour expectation

This role would particularly suit:
  • E&W qualified employment lawyers of 1 PQE plus
  • Someone currently in a PSL role seeking more client exposure or an Associate who is looking to step back slightly from fee-earning intensity without compromising on quality of work

You’ll need a solid grounding in general employment law, strong drafting skills and confidence operating in a client-facing, billable environment. Pro bono experience is helpful but not essential.

If you’re looking to maintain exposure to top-tier employment work this is a genuinely compelling alternative to the traditional associate pathway.
